Nissan Gives New Life to Bolts: A Collection of Cute Animals Made from Production Scraps
At Nissan factories, every part undergoes strict quality and safety checks. Even small issues — like a bolt accidentally falling on the floor — can lead to disqualification. But instead of simply discarding these parts, Nissan found an original and eco-friendly solution: transforming them into charming animal figurines called Nejimaru (ネジマル).
The Nejimaru project was born as a symbol of sustainability and respect for resources. Bolts no longer used during the car production process were reimagined and hand-crafted into miniature creatures. Each figurine is not only a creative souvenir but also a story of how a technical component can get a “second life” in a completely unexpected form.
The collection includes four types of animals:
— Lion (ライオン) — a symbol of strength and leadership
— Leopard Gecko (ヒョウモントカゲモドキ) — a unique and exotic creature
— Dog (イヌ) — a loyal and friendly companion
— Snail (エスカルゴ) — calmness and peace in metallic form
Each figurine is sold for 1,540 yen (tax included) and serves as both a memorable gift and an inspiring example of industrial upcycling.
Would you buy such a souvenir?
Do you have bolts lying around without purpose?
Nejimaru is more than just a bolt. It’s character, style, and respect for detail.
